Bode’s Galaxy (M81)

Discovered in 1774 by German astronomer Johann Elert Bode,  It is  believed to be 11.6 million light-years from Earth and it is situated in the constellation Ursa Major. The apparent magnitude is 6.9 which renders it as one the brightest galaxies in the skies.

Splinter Galaxy (NGC5907)

Discovered in 1788 by Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel it is about 40 million light years from Earth in the constellation Draco.
